Just to allow a comparison, I nipped down to my local hobby store (and Tesco) and picked up a few die cast cars to check the scale and detail (and to see if they wil fit on the chassis). Good news - detail stacks up well - scale is fantastic (a fraction smaller all round than the 1/64th BMW M3 die cast).
As for fitting other bodies on the chassis, it will be a snap (literally). Ken and his team have developed a neat little spring loaded mounting mechansim which they have fitted (front and back) to the die cast body. So as I see it, if you can make something like the clips they use, you should be able to convert most die cast bodies to snap on easily (assuming scale is right)
